A Procedure for Learning Students' Names

Pages 125-126 | Published online: 20 Nov 2009

Abstract

A technique for learning students' names is described. The procedure involves jotting down distinguishing characteristics for each student. These notes serve as memory cues. Students are given a writing assignment to work on in class, while the notes are used to study students' names and faces. Most names can be learned by the end of the first class period. The student essays are an added bonus.
