An Improved Device for Studying Adaptation to Displaced Vision

Pages 243-245 | Published online: 20 Nov 2009

Abstract

For years psychologists studying or demonstrating the effects of adaptation to displaced vision have used thick, bulky prisms mounted on welder's goggles or eyeglass frames to produce displaced vision. A new method is presented here for creating lightweight compact eyeglasses that displace one's vision. These eyeglasses can be constructed to displace vision horizontally, vertically, or both. The necessary materials can be obtained from many optical suppliers for a reasonable price. The eyeglasses are easy to use for classroom demonstrations or for student research projects.
