A Demonstration of Measurement Error and Reliability

Abstract

The related concepts of reliability and measurement error are often difficult for students to understand. This article describes a simple and inexpensive demonstration of several underlying notions necessary to understanding these concepts: chance score, true score, error variance, true score variance, and their relation to each other and to reliability.
