Pages 195-197 | Published online: 20 Nov 2009

Abstract

The use-weight illusion occurs when a person lifts 2 equal-weight objects differing in size and perceives the large object as lighter than the small object. Varying the availability of visual and haptic information influences the strength of the illusion. This article describes several inexpensive techniques far demonstrating the size-weight illusion and some relevant issues concerning the illusion.
