Sigrid Schmalzer

Sigrid Schmalzer is professor of history at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her publications include The People’s Peking Man: Popular Science and Human Identity in Twentieth-Century China (2008), Red Revolution, Green Revolution: Scientific Farming in Socialist China (2016), and an edited volume titled Science for the People: Documents from America’s Movement of Radical Scientists (2018). She is currently researching the history of agricultural terracing in modern China with a special emphasis on knowledge production and circulation.
