ABSTRACT
Research examining linkages between parental divorce and young adults' intimate relationships is critiqued in terms of approach and methodology. An integrative framework, which emphasizes children's agency, family conflict, loss and renewal, is advanced as a means of interpreting the existing research and developing new projects. Finally, methodological recommendations are offered and a call is issued for researchers to include, or at least acknowledge, the role of personal experience that shapes one's research agenda.
