Abstract

A statistical study was conducted at the Occupa- tional Therapy section of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., to determine the inter-rater reliability of a clinical assessment and documentation instrument designed for psychosocial (mental health) patients. The Wheel Diagram was introduced in a study "A Strategy for Assessing Occupational Behavior," September 1983, Occupational Therapy in Mental Health. This follow-up article includes a discussion of modifications of the original study, a brief description of the current status of occupational behavior clinical assessment instruments and the results of an inter-rater reliability study. Guidelines for rating competency levels of variables on a 5-point Likert Scale are included in this article. Recommendations for future research using the Wheel Diagram Assessment are proposed.
