The Process of Goal Setting Using Goal Attainment Scaling in a Therapeutic Community

Abstract

The client's ability to identify and pursue realistic goals is an essential featurc in successful treatment planning. Goal Attainment Scaling is an individualized scaled description of personal oak having five possible levels of outcome for each goal. This article outlines a structured system which involves the client during thc assessment phase of treatment in stating clearly dcfined goals. The goals are stated in behavioural terms using a graded sequence.
