Empowerment Evaluation of a Youth Leadership Training Program

Abstract

Due to budgetary constraints, many human service agencies are recruiting volunteers to supplement service delivery. A volunteer seeks out opportunities, in a planned manner, to help other individuals and/or groups of individuals. This paper illustrates an empowerment evaluation case study. Wandersman et al.'s (2004) empowerment evaluation principles are used to promote evaluation of the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago's Youth Leadership Training Series, a program designed to train youth volunteers.
