Abstract
Though coronary artery disease concerns the majority of our population, there is much evidence that its effects can be reduced or prevented through effective cardiovascular fitness programs. Important components of such programs for children are discussed in this artlce, followed by a description of the Feelin' Good program which is intended to promote cardiovascular fitness. Issues in developing and implementing the program are summarized as are research data supporting the approach. Finally, specific suggestions for introdcing cardiovascular fitness programs in schools, such as Feelin' Good, are provided.
