From Probation to Mini-Bikes

A Comparison of Traditional and Innovative Programs for Community Treatment of Deliquent Adolescents

Pages 105-118 | Published online: 18 Oct 2008

Abstract

In this two year study the author empirically compares the effectiveness of two traditional approaches to rehabilitating delinquents, probation and recreation, with an innovative approach, a mint-bike club based on ecological and behavioral systems models of treatment. The effectiveness of all three treatment programs are compared to a control group of delinquents on the variables criminal offenses, status offenses, CPA, school absences and self-esteem.
