Abstract
Community organizers are concerned with the development of a large and invested group of participants. A working knowledge about how groups come together and evolve is indispensable if organizers are skillfully to develop relations among members, create a mutual aid system, and handle the initial authority theme. In this paper, a community organizer's attempts to build a group are presented and analyzed according to stages of group development theory.
