Pages 55-74 | Received 18 Dec 2003, Accepted 01 Jul 2004, Published online: 08 Sep 2008

ABSTRACT

Social workers and other human service professionals who work with clients affected by traumatic life events such as sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse run the risk of experiencing vicarious traumatization (VT). This article will report on a single-session VT group model for agency-based trauma workers. This psychoeducation group model emphasized mutual aid, confidentiality, context, case vignettes, and self care strategies. Implications for social work are discussed.
