Abstract

Recent research has suggested the value of “simulated presenc” as an intervention for dementia patients who are experiencing distress. This pilot study examined the impact of presenting familiar personal photographs of friends and family along with preferred music on 23 caregivers and care recipients with dementia. Responses of both groups were extremely positive. Feasibility of this approach as an intervention for improving quality of life and reducing distress in dementia patients was discussed.
