Levels Systems as Shaping and Fading Procedures

Use in a Child Inpatient Psychiatry Setting

Abstract

This article reviews the use of behavioral levels systems in managing behavior excesses, shaping prosocial behavior, and fading prompts and external control. Token economy systems and levels systems are compared, and a description of the applied use of levels system in an inpatient child psychiatric facility is provided.
