Abstract

Single parents and their adolescents are under potentially significant amounts of stress due to the family structure and other developmental factors such as the adolescents' movement towards independence. Researchers have suggested that families experiencing conflict may benefit form conflict resolution training. We are proposing a conflict resolution training model based upon behaviorally based training methods in conjunction with methods to enhance the therapeutic alliance. Specific steps in the conflict resolution training model are identified and described.
