Surrender and Narcissism

Assessing Change over Alcohol Treatment

Pages 1-12 | Published online: 25 Sep 2008

Abstract

Surrender scores improved over treatment for the 49 male and 16 female alcoholics. Pathological narcissism decreased over treatment within the High Change on Surrender group, but not within the Low Change group. Findings support Tiebout's (1961) theory which suggests that making an act of surrender helps reduce pathological narcissism.
