Abstract
Many professionals currently working in social service and health care settings with the elderly lack an adequate educational background in the field of aging. An effective strategy for addressing the educational needs of such professionals involves cooperation between gerontology faculty in higher educational institutions and the service providing organizations that seek to gerontologize their professional staffs. This article describes a train-the-trainer program which provided professional nurses with the opportunity to learn about aging and the aging population and learn how to train their peers in the workplace.
