Assessing Employee's Awareness:

A First Step to Utilization

Pages 45-55 | Published online: 26 Oct 2008

Abstract

This paper discusses an evaluation method that was designed to assess employees' awareness of their company EAP. Since employee familiarity with EAP services is essential to their appropriate use, feedback regarding employee awareness is an important component in providing effective services. Several areas of employee awareness were examined: the visibility of the EAP within the company, employees' understanding of what services are available through the EAP, employees' familiarity with what the procedures are to use the EAP, and employees' concern about the confidentiality of EAP services. Findings from an evaluation with this focus can provide useful direction regarding where modifications in EAP marketing and educational strategies need to be made.
