Pages 35-46 | Published online: 26 Oct 2008

Abstract

This article describes the way the employee assistance program (EAP) meets profound unconscious needs in the work force. British object relations theory will be used to analyze how the employee assistance program provides a feeling of safety, opportunities for reparation, good enough mothering, and holding. Case examples will illustrate how this happens.
