Abstract
This article is a sequel to the previous work "Employee Assistance Programs: Implications for Higher Education" which examined why do universities establish EAPs?, what types of EAPs do they adopt?, and what unique characteristics separate universities from other organizations? This article reports the results of a survey conducted of over 100 colleges and universities located in various regions of the United States regarding their EAPs structure and functions. It was found that universities mirror the private sector, services offered, individuals covered, community resources utilized, the extent of presenting problems and especially referral sources all bear a resemblance to EAPs within industrial settings.
