The Emergence of Women as a Force for Change in EAPs

Abstract

For about 15 years women professionals in both the Employee Assistance and alcohol/drug addiction treatment fields have attempted to raise awareness in the workplace about the specific problems faced by women. In this article, the author has traced a brief history of both a personal and a professional emergence of the awareness of women's issues. She has also outlined the organizational efforts that have been planned and actualized by the EAP field to bring about positive changes for women.
