Worker Health and Wellness in Developing Nations

Issues Confronting Occupational Social Work

ABSTRACT

Besides emerging as more industrialized and technologically advanced nations, developing countries in Asia are seats for multinational corporations. Occupational injury rates, however, are at alarming rates in these countries. Unfortunately, there is an inverse relationship between increased economic activity due to multinational investment and health and safety of workers in these countries. Occupational social workers have an obligation of utilizing the profession'S social justice perspective while intervening in the work environment of employees in these developing countries regarding health, safety, and Wellness.
