Employee Assistance Consortia

Developing a Research Agenda

Pages 19-35 | Published online: 15 Oct 2008

ABSTRACT

Of the various Employee Assistance delivery mechanisms the consortium model is the newest and least documented. While there are various beliefs on how consortia should be established and operated, there is minimal formal or critical discussion in the literature. What does exist indicates a lack of homogeneity between consortia. In endeavouring to learn more about this EAP option, traditionally associated with smaller businesses, a comprehensive research agenda should be adopted. Several different research methods can be used in studying consortia but we should not rely solely on the scientific method to guide us. Researchers need to be aware of what alternative standpoints offer such as those proposed by the feminist methodology.
