Preliminary Study

Clinician Criteria for Client Change and Treatment Success

Pages 37-45 | Published online: 15 Oct 2008

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this preliminary study is to determine if the criteria used by 105 clinicians to assess client change and treatment success is related to, or independent of each other. It is expected that the criteria clinicians use to determine client change and treatment success is related. The basis for this assertion is two-fold: (1) modem clinical training requires a clinician assess a client'S therapeutic needs, develop a treatment plan to determine the outward signs of the desired change and a criteria to assess the degree to which treatment has been successful; (2) insurance carriers are taking a more managed care approach that requires clinicians to delineate outward signs of inward change as the basis for assessing treatment success.
