ABSTRACT
Eighty-two police officers were surveyed from departments representing four municipalities in New Jersey. Each department was served by a common, external employee assistant program (EAP). Items on the questionnaire were organized into two groups representing awareness and acceptance of their EAP. Awareness variables (e.g., having seen the policy statement) were found to be correlated with acceptance their programs. The only difference between female and male officers was that females were more willing than males to use the program.
