Abstract
The effectiveness of 30 or 50 mg of 17 ∝-methyltestosterone/kg diet for periods of 4, 6, or 10 weeks starting when the fish were 25 mm TL for sex-reversal of juvenile largemouth bass, Micropterus salmoides, was evaluated. Fish were subsequently dissected to determine gonadal morphology and histology. Five of the six trials produced significantly (P < 0.05) altered sex ratios based on gonadal differentiation. Data with two-year-old largemouth bass indicated a low number of spermiating individuals among methyltestosterone- treated fish.
