Intervention on the Student Substance User:

A School-Family Intervention Process

Abstract

This paper outlines the process of intervention on the student substance user enrolled in public school. It is proposed that, with careful planning, intervention for the student substance user is a firm, expeditious, and appropriate response to the desease of chemical dependency. Steps are outlined that can help family and friends in offering assistance to the student who is chemically dependent. Concerns about discipline and extra-curricular activities that should be addressed immediately to insure a successful intervention also are presented for the Student Substance User is discussed as the initial step in the process of student recovery. Additionally, there is a need to understand that there are different circumstances of factors to be considered when an intervention is being carried out with students.
