ABSTRACT
We report the results of an in-depth study of 119 youths at the Hillsborough County (Tampa), Florida, Juvenile Assessment Center involved in a community-based intervention study. Comparisons were made of the male and female youths on a wide range of demographic, offense and psychosocial characteristics. Consistent with previous research, results indicated that male youths were more involved in delinquent activities, whereas female youths came from more troubled family backgrounds involving sexual victimization. Conclusions are drawn regarding the health service implications of these findings.
