An Evaluation of Using Faculty and Administrators as Volunteer Counselors in a Small College Setting

Abstract

A survey comparison between two types of small college counseling services found that while students' awareness and usage were equivalent, significant differences were found in students' expectancies, referral patterns and counselee satisfaction. The relationship between conselee help-seeking preferences and the utilization of professional volunteers as counselors is discussed.
