SUMMARY
This article concerns itself with the integration of policy and practice in the professional training of Master's level social workers. The implications of policy for practice are explored and the approach of service learning is articulated as a method of linking policy and practice. This occurs within a qualitative evaluation of a System of Care (SOC) program. Students are advised to learn from their clients in order to become both better service providers and advocates. The political role of social work is also highlighted. Results of the evaluation are included.
