ABSTRACT

A new sterol (artemisterol C), tetraterpenoid (scoparoic acid) and lanostene-type triterpene (artemilanosterol) have been isolated from the roots of Artemisia scoparia Waldst & Kit. The structures of these compounds have been established as β-sitosteryl (14′-hydroxy-12′-keto-octadec)-2′)4′,6′-trieneoate, tetracont-7(8), 29(30)-diene-15,17,20-triol-19-one-26-oic acid, and 14-desmethyl-14-hydroxylanost-24(25)-ene-3β-y1-11′,13′,15-trienstearate by using spectral and chemical analyses.
