Abstract
A trip to Russia to help assess a program of the Russian Orthodox Temperance Fellowship helped to put into perspective a significant role which churches in America might play in the treatment and prevention of addictive diseases in this country. From that experience the author briefly outlines what such a church-based effort might include and how it might bring healing not only to the addict but to the church itself.
