Abstract
The insights provided by Dr. Harry A. Tiebout are foundational for understanding the dynamics of recovery from addiction. His awareness of the spiritual dimension of recovery, particularly as related to the concept of surrender, has provided a foundation for significant theological reflection. Some of the theological and pastoral insights extrapolated from his writing and research are lifted up as being pivotal in an understanding and ministry with those who are chemically dependent.
