Abstract

The game Pyramid Power(tm) was assessed as a nutrition education tool for seniors engaged in learning three basic nutritional recommendations based on the Food Guide Pyramid. Average knowledge scores of game players increased by 18.6 percent between pre- and post-assessment while the scores of participants who listened to a standard lecture increased by 9.7 percent. Both the game and lecture proved to be efficacious at teaching three recommendations of the Food Guide Pyramid. The game offered a fun way for older adults to learn about nutrition.
