Creating Space for Radical Trauma Theory in Generalist Social Work Education

Abstract

This article discusses the need for undergraduate and graduate social work programs to develop curricula that adequately reflects the area of trauma. The author has developed and teaches a course titled “Trauma and Social Work Practice” that creates a safe learning environment and challenges the dominant theoretical lens of trauma.
