ABSTRACT
A precision vacuum seeder was modified to facilitate changing seeds for research plot work. A suction tube was permanently mounted inside the seed hopper and connected through a valve to a vacuum cyclone attachment on the planter so that the seed hopper(s) could be emptied automatically by opening the valve(s). The apparatus was tested to determine the effect of the tube on metering rate and to verify that the apparatus did effectively remove the seeds from the hopper. It worked well with small vegetable seeds.
