Pages 155-168 | Published online: 26 Oct 2008

Abstract

A brief history of the application of automation to psychological use in the classroom, in medical interviewing and in psychological assessment is followed by recent attempts to automate systems of therapy. The latter includes learning of information, learning solutions to problems, learning of skills such as relaxation and stress management, rational-emotive therapy, cognitive restructuring, and learning of a positive self-concept.
