Abstract

A multidimensional approach to stress measurement which includes assessment of self-report, behavioral, physiological, and biochemical components of the stress response is described. The strengths and weaknesses of each measurement domain are considered. The use and interpretation of physiological and biochemical measures in studies examining the stress-illness relationship are presented.
