Abstract
Arco (1993) argued for increased research and use of performance pay in hum& sehce organizations. To facilitate these activities he prepared a guide as lo the conditions under which such research and application might best take place. His suggestions, though, omitted reference to a key characteristic (client variability at program entry) of human service organizations. The necessity of addressing this matter, in both research and practice, is emphasized.
