ABSTRACT

Objective assessment of denial among sexual offenders is important. The purpose of this study was to develop a valid and reliable scale to measure the denial of adult male incest offenders. There are four subscales in the instrument that measure the construct of denial: denial of facts, denial of awareness, denial of impact, and denial of responsibility. This report outlines a four-stage procedure to develop the denial scale and includes data supporting its validity and reliability.
