Abstract
Maintaining the physiological and psychological wellbeing of the cancer patient can place significant stress on the health care provider. Potential long-term negative consequences of this stress are discussed within the theoretical context of provider burnout, Thc important role of interpersonal relationships in this setting is underscored.
