Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the extent to which selected personal, interpersonal, and family characteristics were related to interpersonal relationship quality of young adults. Hierarchi- cal multiple regression analysis was used 10 test the research hypothe- ses. Relationship anxiety, family adaptability, and Ule ability to manage interpersonal conflict effectively were found to be signiftcanUy related to interpersonal relationship quality. At higher levels of anxiety, young adults from divorced familtes had significantly lower levels of interper- sonal relationship quality than their peers from intact families. Implica- tions for further research and practice are discussed.
