Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare prednisolone [P] and diclofenac [D] injections in treatment of chronic myofascial pain. Methods: Patients with localized myofascial pain lasting between 1 and 7 months were included in a double blind study using either P or D injections. Patients and physicians evaluated the treatment during a 2 week period. Results: Thirty-eight patients completed the study and 84% improved from the injection therapy. No difference between the treatments was found at the clinical evaluations or in the patient questionnaires. Conclusion: Disclofenac injections might be an alternative in the treatment of myofascial pain.
