Medications/Clinical Trials in Fibromyalgia

Abstract

This paper reviews the clinical trials of medications in the treatment of fibromyalgia. Methodologic issues in prior and future clinical trials are discussed. Although tricyclic medications and other central nervous system active medicines have been superior to placebo in clinical trials, no medications have been highly effective in the majority of patients with fibromyalgia.
