ABSTRACT
As technology advances and patrons' demands for timely access to information increase, librarians seek new methods for improving document delivery and interlibrary loan services. This paper evaluates several software packages available for full text desktop document delivery against an established set of criteria. It also addresses how two libraries, one medical and one general academic, concurrently, but independently of each other, chose Prospero for desktop delivery of both interlibrary loan and in-house documents. Prospero can help librarians meet the needs of end users for convenient electronic document delivery in different library settings. Implementation issues with Prospero are addressed and discussed.
