Abstract
In response to a student newspaper article about mutilation in the serials collection of Maag Library, Youngstown State University, two studies were conducted to assess the amount of inconvenience a student would encounter because of mutilation. A sample of all bound journals and citations for titles on popular topics were examined. Both avenues of investigation yielded data that lead one to believe there is a low rate of missing pages. Two percent of the citations and .08% of all pages were found to be mutilated.
