Abstract
The paper reports findings of a research project, “Safeguarding heritage at risk: Disaster management in United Kingdom (UK) archives, libraries and museums,” funded by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council. It focuses on the disaster control plan in archives and libraries, and is based on the results of a literature review and questionnaire survey of institutions in the UK undertaken in 2005-06. Coverage includes terminology relating to the disaster control plan, its significance, development, and select findings from the research that offer insight into the current state of disaster control planning in these two domains in the UK.
