Abstract
Budgetary constraints and changing technology require libraries to draw on all available resources to offer state of the art, patron-oriented services. This paper discusses how the access services staff can be utilized to their fullest potential, and it offers a solution to the problem of providing reference service and equipment assistance during evenings and weekends. The key to a successful program is staff training and staff involvement. Benefits that accrue to the library include satisfied patrons, as well as improved communication and cooperation between departments.
