Abstract
POPLINE, previously POPINFORM, was initiated in 1973 and in 1980 became available through the National Library of Medicine's MEDLARS system. POPLINE covers the areas of research in human fertility, contraceptive methods, community-based services, program evaluation, demography, censuses, vital statistics, and related health, law, and policy issues. Search techniques using the controlled vocabulary from the POPLINE Thesaurus are presented. A comparison of sample searches done on POPLlNE and MEDLINE is also included.
